Medieval Times – Saves over $9,000 a year by switching to LED light bulbs – 12 month ROI.
There’s a reason Medieval Times is the No. 1 dinner attraction in North America: Its unique combination of a medieval banquet and thrilling competition between Knights captures the imagination of all ages. Putting on all this excitement comes at a cost however, and Medieval Times was seeking ways to reduce energy costs, specifically money and energy costs from lighting in its immense, replica 11th century castle where the entertainment was hosted.
As a regular customer of Atlanta Light Bulbs they trusted the expert advice from ALB Energy Solutions consultant Jesse Root and performed a full retrofit of all of their Par 38 Can Halogen lights and converted to more efficient LED lighting.
Medieval Times was able to retrofit hundreds of lamps from a traditional 90 watt Par38 lamp with a lifespan on 2,500 hours, to a 20 watt LED Par38 with a lifespan of over 25,000 hours. That’s 10X the lifespan for each lamp!
With so many colorful jousting knights in action, it was important to capture the authentic color reproductions, ambiance and look and feel of the pagentry. ALB Energy Solutions suggested high CRI (Color Rendering Index), dimmable, 2700 kelvin warm color Par38 LEDs. The end result was over 83% savings along with a nice $4,720 rebate from Georgia Power for using energy saving lighting.
The entire project cost less than one year operating costs and provided and excellent ROI, which paid for itself in just one year. That’s enough to make one shout Huzzah!
